If you’ll be in Pigeon Forge March 14-17, 2012, you won’t want to miss A Mountain Quiltfest! Whether you’re looking for a family outing or just something out of the ordinary, this four day long festival makes for a great way to spend a day!
Perhaps you’ve always been interested in the art of quilt making, but have never had the chance to express your creativity via fabric and thread. A Mountain Quiltfest offers more than 60 quilting classes, each covering various skill levels. Classes vary from no-sewing machine required beginner classes to extremely advanced 3-D pattern classes.
The Quiltfest instructors have been brought in from all across the country for this event – some as far as California! Click here for the description and schedules of all the classes offered.
If you don’t have the time or desire to attend a quilting class, bring your family to the quilt show! Beautiful pieces of quilt art from all over the country will be displayed for your enjoyment.
Quilters will be competing in more than 10 categories for over $20,000 in cash and prizes! Some of the categories include: Machine Quilted Bed Quilts, Quilted For Hire Small Quilts, Youth Quilts, and Non-Traditional Quilts. The contest is open to everyone, whether you’re an old hand at the quilting game or new on the scene!
In addition to the featured quilt classes and show, there are also other great events happening throughout the week. Wednesday through Saturday there will be an Antique Quilt Bed Turning in the lobby of the Music Road Hotel and Convention Center. This is a great way to glimpse at a little piece of history!
Has all this quilting made you hungry? Attend a meal lecture at The Pottery House Café. You will enjoy a tasty breakfast or dinner while enjoying a lively presentation on several different topics. There is a new one each day, ranging from Understanding the Value of Color to the Memories of a Quilter.
Door prizes will be given away all weekend – you can get your ticket by simply attending! Many great prizes will be given away, such as a sewing machine and more. For more information about A Mountain Quiltfest, visit their website at: http://www.mountainquiltfest.com/. Happy quilting!
