It’s hard to divide your time between all of the wonderful things to do in the Pigeon Forge area. Here we highlight some of the great day trips that abound in Pigeon Forge.

Got small children in tow? Why not visit Dollywood or Dolly’s Splash Country! Need to cool off in the heat of the summer? Dolly’s Splash Country is a fun-filled water park suitable for the whole family. Water slides, lazy rivers, and kiddie areas make this a great choice for a summer activity for the family. On the dry side of things, try out Dollywood, which is open year round with fantastic foot-stompin’ shows and attractions that are suitable for young and old. For more details on these parks, visit the Dollywood website.

Want to get in touch with nature? Big Rock Dude Ranch at Ponderosa is the perfect place to have a picnic, pan for gems, and ride a horse all at one place. On the 3.5 mile trail, horses meander up hills and around valleys taking riders on a peaceful, scenic ride.  Young children can ride with an adult, and the horses are extremely gentle. After dismounting from your horse, try your hand at gem mining with a 3 lb. bag of California gems. There are screens and a sluice available for panning such gems as amethyst, tourmaline and jade. There is a pond on site for fishing, picnic tables for enjoying lunch and a petting farm with chickens, goats, ducks and rabbits. For the more adventurous, Big Rock does have ATV tours available!

So get out to Pigeon Forge and find the perfect place for your family to spend the day!
