If you’ve visited Pigeon Forge before, you know that the town is synonymous with the famous amusement park, Dollywood. Owned by world renowned entertainer Dolly Parton, the park features thrill rides, arts & crafts, and music in a fun and family friendly environment. A staple of the Pigeon Forge vacation, tourists flock to Dollywood year after year. Drawing 2.5 million visitors annually, the amusement park has been entertaining its guests since 1961.

One of the most popular events that Dollywood holds is called Dollywood Nights. Aimed towards children and families as a last minute blast of fun before the return to school, the event will be held August 8th through August 14th. For a limited time only, Dollywood extends its park hours until 10:00PM, allowing visitors to ride the roller coasters and various other rides after dark! Visitors claim the thrill of riding in the dark is worth the late night, and kids will love visiting Dollywood in a whole new way!

Nearly everyone can take advantage of this wonderful event – including one day ticketholders and season pass holders! If you and your family are hunting for an extra bargain, visitors arriving between 5:00PM and 10:00PM will receive a special $25 dollar admission ticket to Dollywood Nights. Most of the park’s rides will be open after dark, including the famous Thunderhead and Mystery Mine coasters.

The park’s award winning roller coasters have been drawing adrenaline junkies from all over the country. Check out the Tennessee Tornado, a triple spiral coaster that takes you down a 125 foot drop – then through a mountain at speeds of 70 miles per hour! Another popular roller coaster is the Mystery Mine, an 1,800 foot long track full of fun and scary surprises. As you speed through an abandoned coal mine, you and your family will be thrilled as you drop down a 95 degree, 85 foot drop into darkness!

The park offers less daunting rides, as well. Ideal for small children, the Amazing Flying Elephants will take you around and around, flying through the air with the greatest of ease. The Shooting Star is a favorite of all guests, as well. You and your family will let your legs dangle as the ride climbs to the top of the drop tower….then speedily descends back to the bottom.  Your children will love to see the Dollywood Park lights and sounds after dark.
