This Old Forge Distillery is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Located just a short walk from The Old Mill, you can visit two historic sites at one time! The Old Mill is where the head miller would grind, fill, and tie the bags of stone-ground quality grain every day. This building and the people that operated it played a large part in Smoky Mountain history. The mill is also powered by the Little Pigeon River.

Deriving its name-sake from the Iron Forge that was once located in the area, The Old Forge Distillery has a deep connection to Pigeon Forge’s history. This production of iron is also where the second half of the name of the city derived from.

The Old Mill Square grew in popularity from visitors that would return year after year. The distillery began from the area’s long history of production and from there unfolded. The combination of the area’s natural water resource and other natural resources made for the ideal location. The pottery businesses joined the square and now the Old Forge Distillery has joined to complete the square.

Among the many features of the area’s rich culture and history is moonshine! Made from the fresh, clean waters of the area and grains grown locally, the moonshine offers visitors and locals an exciting new taste. At The Old Forge Distillery, you can sample some famous 1830s moonshine recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation. Their famous 1830 Original was named after the year that the Old Mill was built. Samples are always free at the Old Forge Distillery, and tasting this moonshine will simply add to an authentic Smoky Mountain experience.
