Carbo's Police
museum in Pigeon Forge
Opened by
Dr. and Mrs. Bert Carbo in 1976 the Carbo Police Museum in
Pigeon Forge, TN is a great collection honoring the policemen
through out American history. This museum has continued growing
by continuing to grow its collection of authentic police
memorabilia in Pigeon Forge. This Pigeon Forge museum has over
5000 items for you to look through including badges, uniforms,
weapons, and an exhibit of drugs and weapons confiscated from
criminals. This is really neat for kids who want to be a police
officer when they grow up or grown ups who have an interest in
looking at this amazing artifacts.
The
Carbo’s have been collecting memorabilia since 1955 from all
over the United States and placed it in Pigeon Forge, TN. The
have the largest exhibit of the “Walking Tall” Sheriff Buford
Pusser. Pusser was shot eight times and had been stabbed with a
knife seven times. He is the “Walking Tall” Sheriff that the
movie “Walking Tall” was made about. We are very proud to have
this kind of exhibit in Pigeon Forge, TN. The Carbo Police
Museum in Pigeon Forge also features a 1974 Corvette that Pusser
died in. The story is that he was driving it when a gas
explosion killed him and charred most of the car. They have a
large “Pusserabilia” display for all to see including a taped
interview with him in this Pigeon Forge attraction. This is very
neat having both the car and the other memorabilia on display
including the video tape!
The
displays change frequently and with more items coming in it’s a
different show every time. This is good because this allows
visitors want to come over and over. This museum honors the
memory of all the police officers who have died during duty not
just ones from Pigeon Forge, but from all over the United States
of America. Being apart of a service that puts your life on the
line everyday is really a sacrifice for not only the person and
their family as well. It is the Carbo’s desire that this will
encourage and honor retired and current officers, and of course
the ones that have paid the ultimate price the ones that have
passed away and their spouses. Next time you’re in Pigeon Forge
stop by there and take a look around. It will be a unique and
memorable experience that you had in Pigeon Forge, TN.
