The Forbidden Caverns

In 1964 a group of businessmen bought the area and started plans of opening the cavern to both local and vacationers in the Pigeon Forge area. After 3 years of excavation and preparation they finally succeeded in their goals by getting it ready for others to enjoy. In June 1967 the Forbidden Caverns were officially opened to the public. They have preserved many of the natural formations that continue to form to this day. They allow groups to take a one hour tour of the cavern led by a well-trained guide. The guide will inform you of all the history and information about this Pigeon Forge attraction. The Forbidden Caverns can be both an entertaining and learning experience for people of all ages. As you walk through the cave you will see grottos, the formations, the sparkling stream that the Indians once used, stalactites, etc. They are very cool.
