Springfest in Pigeon Forge TN

Helicoptor Awareness Day

Pigeon Forge, TN, invites you to join the 6th Annual Helicoptor Awareness Day, which began as a tribute to Hal Haynes who founded the Scenic Helicopter Tours. These tours were available to people who were staying in the Pigeon Forge, TN area. Hal Haynes was a man who, as a boy had polio, and had medical attention in Knoxville and the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. Throughout his life, he never received gifts, but asked his children to donate to the hospital instead. On his deathbed, Dan Hanynes (Hal’s son) decided to begin the very first Helicopter Awareness Day; which, as its name states, is to heighten awareness of helicopters, its pilotes and operates, and to see how helicopters function. It had been such a success that the Scenic Helicopter Tours (which hosts the awareness day) has founded another company, Helicopter Whirl’d Adventures.
Helicopter Awareness Day will take place on April 21 and April 22, from 10 a.m. til 4 p.m. on Highway 66 in Sevierville, just a short drive from Pigeon Forge, at the Scenic Helicopter Tours Heliport. All the proceeds will be donate to the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital in Knoxville, only forty-five minutes from Pigeon Forge, TN. Not only while you are at the April 21 festivities will you be able to tour private helicopters, but you will be able to speak with pilots and to enjoy helicopter rides as well as see the aircraft from the Knox County Sheriff’s Department, UT Life Star, Wings Air Medical and Air Evac Life Team. April 22 events take place at Helicopter Whirl’d Adventures, and guest can enjoy the Pilot Gale ($65 per person or $100 per couple), where you can enjoy food, helicopter exhibits, and even helicopter simulators (6:30 p.m. til 9 p.m.).
This event is not only charitable to the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, but it is also an exciting and educational event for the whole family. Food will be available for sale at the Scenic Helicopter Tours, which also offers tours year-round at its heliport.
