Living History Civil War Reenactment


Are you starting your plans for next summer? Considering coming in the middle of June. If you are visiting Pigeon Forge, TN during the week of during June 13th through June 15th, you will be able to experience over 150 period performers recreating the Civil War. For three days tons of exciting meetings and battles will occur between the North and the South. Period performers will re enact some of the highlights of the Civil War. They will also set up camp and re enact the “Battle of Burg Hill”. Other activities that will be taking place is a parade and meeting of the generals. Not only is this event interesting to watch, but it is very informative. Each day holds a different activity. The Living History program will be held on Friday and Saturday at 9 a.m. At the living history program you can actually experience the feeling of setting around an old civil war camp. Friday afternoon around 6 pm the “Siege of Gatlinburg” will take place. The performing soldiers will march through downtown starting at traffic light 6 and will end at the park. The “Battle of Burg Hill” will take place around 2 pm on Saturday. The North will face off with the South in a full blown battle, as each side tries to defend their territory. Each side will loose blood and sweat trying to claim their prize. Each side will dress in their colors and fire cannons and rifles in defense of their territory. If you are a huge fan of history the reenactment is an activity that you will really enjoy while vacationing in the Smokies. This event will be happening just minuets from your Pigeon Forge cabin.

River Rat Tubing!

For tubing in the Smoky Mountains you and your friends should go try out the River Rat. They have tubing, kayaking and rafting everyone in your family can enjoy. It's a day full of fun where you and your travel companions will make many memories together. You have many options of packages to choose from. Don't just limit yourself to one thing there's so much that can be done.

If you just want to tube all day then its $13. However the price is cheaper for groups. This total includes the tube rental, tax, unlimited shuttle service and a life jacket. If you ever wanted to try to kayak then don't miss your chance while you're vacationing in Pigeon Forge. The price for kayaking is $15 for the first trip and $5 for every additional time after that. The folks at River Rat want to save you some money as well. If you want to whitewater raft and tube you could save $8 dollars and by the combo pack for $39.95 or save $13 and book a whitewater rafting trip and receive free tubing pass.

Once you decide which package is best for you and your friends you will load up in the River Rat shuttle and will be taken one mile up the river to tube or kayak back down to the River Rat store. If you choose to float down the river you'll be looking at about an hour of floating so be sure you wear your sunscreen and water shoes. You'll make plenty of memories and share a lot of laughs on this adventure with River Rat.

River Rat has been open since 1995 and their visitors to go back to them each time they are in the Smokey's. Next time you're in town you should go out and visit them too. Maybe you'll find this place to become a tradition for you and your family that everyone will look forward to when they come to Pigeon Forge every year!

Guys Weekend in Pigeon Forge, TN

Looking for somewhere to get away to for the weekend with the guys? The Smokey Mountains has tons of attractions and activities to keep you and your pals busy for the weekend. Something that is adventurous and thrilling would be white water rafting. The Pigeon River is section off into two separate parts according to the rank of the rapids contained in each section. There is the Upper section, which consist of twelve class III and IV rapids. This sections is approximately five miles long and is for those rafters that are a little more daring. There is also the lower section. The lower sections is more for those who just would like to raft down the river and enjoy the scenery. There is not to much excitement that goes on the lower section, it is used more for relaxation. The are tons of ATV tours offered in the Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg areas. Some trail rides cover as much as 7,000 acres. You will be riding trails that cover the spacious acreage of the mountains enjoying every breathtaking view and thrill of climbing over boulders and mountains. There are also tons of go kart courses and arcades to visit where you can let the inner kid come out. If you are more of a stand backish kind of man there are plenty non-risk activities to participate in. The streets are lined with museums including car museums, Ripley’s, Elvis, and Dinosaur museums to visit to find plenty of interesting facts and information. The Smokey Mountains has some of the most scenic gold courses around. What better way to enjoy your day than playing a round of gold with your buddies? Maybe after a long day at the golf course you could catch a bite to eat and then head to see a show? With so much to do, in the Smokies you may want to start planning now.
