Toyota makes $1,000,000 to the Smokey Mountain National Forest!

Toyota has made a commitment to help the environment by making 5 million dollars in donations to 5 different national parks across the United States. The Great Smokey National Park is most visited national park in the United States and the proud recipient of a 1 million donation and 3 new hybrid cars as of June 26, 2008. This donation was made in support of raising environmental awareness. The money will go to a program designed for k-12 students, teachers and families who will have the opportunity to learn science through new science education programs. These programs are now being developed with the new funding. Some programs are being enhanced and other programs are new specializing programs in getting children to become interested in professions in the science department. The classrooms will be updated with new computer programs and a face lift. The teachers will also have an opportunity to find new and better curriculum to use in the classroom.
Most of the focus on has been on the elementary students in the past. However, this new grant from Toyota is going to allow the program for 13 year olds and up to expand and become more successful. Since the statistics are showing a growing number of Americans, especially young people, having a lack of knowledge and care for the environment this program is going to be important by keeping the generations educated.
The Great National Smokey Mountain Forest welcomes it guest year after year. They love seeing the visitors and educating them and allowing them to see and explore the forest themselves. So when you come to visit Pigeon Forge, TN and the forest please remember not to litter and take care of the environment. Pigeon Forge Police Camp for kids

The Police department in Sevier country which covers the Pigeon Forge, TN area had a camp last week for kids ages 11-14. The purpose of the camp was to educate children about the role and skills of a police officer. The camp gave the kids the opportunity to learn these skills in a good environment where they can taught the appropriate time and measures to use. It is important in this day for children to be able to defend themselves but also have the knowledge to only use their knowledge powers when they are necessary. They learn basic defense techniques in case they needed them. But they were told what not to try and their brothers and sisters at home.
This camp has been a great opportunity for kids that are from Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville to learn while they are having fun. This camp also gave the kids on opportunity to step away from the TV and computer and be active.
Some of the activities include, investigations (who done it?), practicing with hand cuffs, riding in a police car, learning laws, driving a golf cart with special glasses that distorts their perception and more! This camp was a great thing for the 25 kids that were involved. And it wasn’t just for boys, there were girls there too! There were even of the police officers there which was neat because they got an opportunity to learn about what their dad or mom does everyday.
Pigeon Forge, TN is a very safe community. There is not a high level of crime by any means. However, it is important for the kids who are going to grow in this community to be aware of their surroundings and opportunities in any area. How knows they could grow up to be a police officer who protects the community and Pigeon Forge and help it maintain its natural since of beauty.
Pigeon Forge Cabins are protected by the police department of Sevier county and so Cabins For You shows its support ot the police department and their efforts to take care of beloved town. If you have an questions you can look up their information on the web.

A great weekend in Pigeon Forge, TN

My parents, my boyfriend and I decided to take a last minute weekend trip to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. As I sat down at my computer I began to search for a cabin. After hours of searching through over fifty cabins on the Pigeon Forge Cabins For You website, I found the perfect cabin. I called Pigeon Forge Cabins For You to rent “Over the Top”. The reservationists at Pigeon Forge Cabins For You were more helpful than any other company I had previously called. The lady I spoke to on the phone did a wonderful job in answering all the questions I had about the cabin and the area that surrounded it. Late Friday night we left our home in Georgia and headed out for our four hour drive to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Around 12:30 am we arrived at “Over the Top” for our weekend getaway. The cabin was much more than we had expected. From the moment we walked in we felt right at home. After unpacking and getting settled we decided to take a dip in the outdoor hot tub. The hot tub was nicely positioned on the far corner of the screened in porch. It was very clean and relaxing. After a long day at work and a long drive to Pigeon Forge it sure was nice to just kick back and relax for a while. After getting out of the hot tub we played a quick game of air hockey. Around 2:00 am everyone decided to head to bed because Saturday was going to be a busy day. The next morning my dad decided to try to wake me up by throwing a pillow at me. I was sleeping so soundly on the upstairs couch that I barely even moved. My parents had a wonderful night’s rest on the pillow top king sized mattress in the upstairs bedroom. Even my boyfriend, who slept on the downstairs couch, did not wake up … until he heard my dad yell, “good morning sleeping beauty!!”. The view from the cabin was such a wonderful thing to wake up to. You could see miles and miles of the Great Smoky Mountains and it was truly something special. As we ventured down the mountain we headed straight for The Old Mill Restaurant for a delicious breakfast. The Old Mill Restaurant is a new favorite for me and I will always eat there when traveling to Pigeon Forge. After our huge breakfast we headed to the outlet malls for a little shopping. Tanger Outlet Center has so many shops for everyone. My mom and I spent hours going to every store while my dad and boyfriend sat on a bench and waited. After a full morning of shopping, lunchtime finally arrived so we headed toward Huck Finn’s Catfish. Huck Finn’s Catfish serves large helpings of country style food and my dad’s favorite was the all you can eat catfish. We had more than enough to eat. We felt refreshed and headed back out for more fun in downtown. We soon found ourselves at the Comedy Barn. The Comedy Barn was two hours of hysterically funny acts and skits. I loved it more than I could have imagined! (and the popcorn was just as good) As the afternoon ended we headed back up to “Over the Top” to get ready for our dinner plans at Dixie Stampede. We relaxed as we watched movies on the big screen TV, played games of foosball and air hockey. Dinner that night at Dixie Stampede was enough to feed a family of fourteen. They served us a full course meal with dessert and we got to watch a very entertaining dinner show and be apart of a Southern tradition and the North and the South sided against each other. Heading back to the cabin that night I started to feel sad because I knew the weekend was over and we would be heading home Sunday morning. When we returned back to the cabin I decided to make the most of my last night so I spent some more time in the hot tub, trying to put off packing as long as I could. I finally packed my clothes and headed to be and quickly drifted off to sleep. As Sunday morning approached we gathered our luggage and left the cabin for our breakfast destination of Cracker Barrel. Yet another delicious meal consumed in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Heading home that day I decided that one day in Pigeon Forge was just not enough. Another trip to the area will be planned very soon and Pigeon Forge Cabins For You will be the first company I will call for a perfect cabin in Pigeon Forge.
