An exciting, brand new attraction destination is set to open this summer in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee! The Island in Pigeon Forge is the ultimate shopping, dining and attraction hub. The main attraction of this new family favorite? A 200-foot tall gondola ride called The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel!
The main attraction, The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel is a beautiful sight to see and will quickly become your family member’s favorite new attraction in Pigeon Forge. The 200-foot tall wheel is most impressive at night – when the 24,000 square foot light show will illuminate the evening sky!
The 42 gondolas on the tide are all glass and climate-controlled to make the ride enjoyable any time of year. The gondolas seat up to eight guests, with each ride lasting between 8 and 10 minutes – three revolutions to the top and back!
For the ultimate experience for your loved ones, purchase a ticket for the VIP ride. The VIP experience will usher you to the front of the line and place you in a four person gondola with a special glass floor and plush red seats. The ride will last twice as long and you will depart with a special complimentary souvenir!
So what else does The Island at Pigeon Forge have to offer? Well, lots of fun for you and your family! The attraction offers an excellent dining strip that already features a Mellow Mushroom, Timberwood Grill and an Island Yogurt. There is also a gift shop and The Island Trading Post scheduled to open with other shopping destinations soon to come!
Another great feature of The Island? An impressive multi-million dollar fountain instillation! Set to open in 2014, the world-class show will be dubbed the Dancing Mountain Waters. Similar to the famous Las Vegas attraction, the fountain will contain 70 jets that shoot water dozens of feet in the air. The choreographed display will be showcased by an array of dazzling lights to illuminate the dancing waters.

I Love Pigeon Forge! My friends brought me there for my birthday a couple years ago and I didn’t want to come home. There is so much to do I would really like to have atleast 2 weeks and still I don’t think I could take it all in. Another place I really Loved was Cade Cove…It was AWESOME!! We saw a mama bear and her 3 cubs up in a tree….I was so excited for I had never see nothing like that in real life. As for restaurants OMGosh if you ever go you need to go to the Apple House it is also AWESOME!!! There is nothing that doesn’t amaze me there. And the upside down house that really blew my mind…LOL!! Hope to come back there someday.
