What’s New in Pigeon Forge

Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is a bustling mountain town in the Great Smoky Mountains. Pigeon Forge is busy all year-round and is constantly adding new attractions and dining destinations to give vacationers something new to do each year that they visit. Are you wondering what’s in store for Pigeon Forge in 2013? Check out the latest additions to the town below!

Dinosaurs: When Giants Ruled The Earth

Head on over to Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies – it’s more than just fish this year! Ripley’s new dinosaur exhibit is great for kids and adults alike. The exhibit showcases some of the largest creatures to ever walk the earth, and will wow you and your group with life-size, fully animatronic animals! Enjoy hands-on interactive exhibits, uncover dinosaur bones and even have your picture taken with a Tyrannosaurs Rex!

Dollywood Welcomes River Rush

Welcome Tennessee’s very first and only water roller coaster at Pigeon Forge’s own Dollywood! Opened this May of 2013, the River Rush water coaster flies forty feet through the treetops. With four drops, hairpin turns and dark tunnels, you will be surrounded by rushing water throughout this fun, thrilling ride. It’s the rush of a real roller coaster with the addition of water!

Waffle House

For too long the town of Pigeon Forge has been missing this southern staple, now Sevierville welcomes this tasty down-south treat. Located on Winfield Dunn Parkway, stop by on your way in or out of town for one of their world-famous waffles or bowls of Bert’s chili!

Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster

Located on Wears Valley Road is the Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster, one of the coolest new attractions in Pigeon Forge! The Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster uses individual cars to race down the Smoky Mountains, in a track a littler smaller than the traditional roller coasters. You will reach speeds of 25 miles per hour as you race down the one mile track, which comes complete with a heart-racing 300 foot drop! The ride is expected to open on August 1, 2013.

Margaritaville

If you’ve ever visited the beach (or listened to Jimmy Buffett!) you have probably heard of Margaritaville. Set to open in Pigeon Forge’s The Island in 2014, Margaritaville is sure to be a new favorite with your family…and you’ll leave feeling like you just hit the beach! The new dining destination will house a bar, stage for live music, gift shop and more. Try their seafood mac and cheese or teriyaki sirloin…yum!

Stay tuned here for more new attractions, dining destinations, entertainment hubs and more!
