The month of July is a fabulous time in Pigeon Forge! Summertime is in full swing, with the forest of the Smoky Mountains in full bloom and abundant warm and sunny weather. The July 4th holiday is always a huge hit in Pigeon Forge, with plenty of patriotic activities and adventures to take part in. This year, attend the annual Patriot Festival at Patriot Park!
This year, the 4th of July falls on a Wednesday. The 2012 Patriot Festival will be held at Patriot Park at the Old Mill Square. On normal days, you would be charmed by the quaint walking track along little Pigeon River, the snapping flags and the lush trees. But on the 4th of July, Patriot Park comes alive!
The festivities will begin at noon, when the Free Kid’s Karnival and food vendors will open for business. You and the kids will love the entertainment and games that the free carnival has to offer – it will keep them entertained for hours while you anxiously await the fireworks! With a variety of food vendors on staff, you can grab some lunch after your little ones have tired themselves out.
Beginning at 1:30 is nearly eight hours of live entertainment! This year’s featured entertainment will feature everyone from newcomers to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members. The free entertainment will include country singers John Anderson, The Soul of Motown, The Pigeon Forge Community Chorus, and Chris Janson, plus many more!
The spectacular fireworks display will begin at 9:45 and it is sure to be a blast (pun intended!) The City of Pigeon Forge outdoes themselves every year, bringing bigger and better fireworks to the visitors and locals of this mountain town. As always, this event is completely free and open to everyone – you don’t have an excuse to miss this great time!
Visitors are reminded to bring blankets and chairs to have a comfortable seat for the evening’s festivities. To ease traffic and parking difficulty, the Teaster Lane Municipal Lot will be offering free parking. The Pigeon Forge trolley will be offering free shuttle rides back and forth all day – you won’t even have to worry about a long walk!
