Treasured Times On The Mountain – Feature Friday

As any writer will tell you, the word retreat holds a certain kind of magic; the promise of quiet corners, inspiring vistas and rekindled creativity. So when some friends and I had the opportunity to get away for the weekend to reconnect with each other and our passion for writing, thanks to Pigeon Forge TN Cabins, we grabbed it! Our not-so-little oasis in the Smokey Mountains of Pigeon Forge, Treasured Times, did not disappoint.

When we first arrived we were overjoyed to find we would each have a private room and bath, there was a huge dining table in the kitchen perfect for brainstorming sessions over dinner, not one, but two gas fireplaces, a vaulted ceiling filled the livingroom with warm light, game tables if we were so inclined, a loft, a hot tub (with a third fireplace!) on the back porch, and many, many private nooks to curl up in and create! And waiting for us on the dining table – a welcome basket filled with goodies like saltwater taffy, chocolate, coffee, assorted teas, hot chocolate, local samples of pumpkin butter, moonshine jelly, and did I mention chocolate? We couldn’t wait to settle in!

Pigeon Forge TN Cabins thought of everything. The kitchen was fully stocked with coffeemaker, dishwasher and everything else we’d need to fix our meals so we could hunker down and get in more writing time. We had fresh, clean towels, a washer and dryer should we need one, and plenty of hot water. The rooms were beautifully decorated with solid, comfy furniture that would rival any 5-star hotel . And above all, everything was so clean! I’ve never stayed anywhere where I’ve been so quickly able to relax and feel at home. It was like dropping in on a friend.

My favorite room was the master bedroom. Not only was there a beautiful gas fireplace, but it opened on both sides, one facing the king-sized bed, the other over looking at huge jetted tub and large picture window.

The first night we ventured back down the mountain to eat at Mel’s Diner, one of the dozens of restaurants to choose from in Pigeon Forge then stopped at the nearby grocery to stock up. There was a cold front coming in and we had some serious work to do the next day. We were determined not to be led astray by all the fun little shops, antique malls and outlet stores that Pigeon Forge had to offer. Those temptations would have to wait until we came back another time with our families.

We woke the next morning to a light dusting of snow and were treated off and on all afternoon by the soft freefall of fat lazy snowflakes. The perfect atmosphere for a winter mountain getaway! We turned on the fireplace, opened our laptops and let the words flow. Of course, who could resist a moment to sneak away and try out that hot tub while snow swirled up onto the porch? Talk about filling the creative well!

I really have to say, if you’re looking for a quiet place to get away from your everyday life, whether it’s to be alone with family or gather with friends, for a work retreat or just to have fun, Pigeon Forge has something for everyone, and Pigeon Forge TN Cabins can make it all happen.
