Pigeon Forge is a family favorite because it doesn’t disappoint. It’s a beautiful city set in the amazing Great Smoky Mountains, and it offers great shopping, dining and entertainment. There is something for everyone, from whitewater rafting and hiking to dinner shows and designer shops. Cozy mountain cabins are located conveniently to all the action, so you really don’t even have to do much planning. A quick cruise down the Parkway will reveal outlet malls, local pancake spots, arcades, pizza joints, chocolate shops, golf courses, wedding chapels, museums, famous attractions, sports outfitters and more. With all of this at your fingertips, you won’t need to pack much – Pigeon Forge basically does the work for you. But there are a few things you won’t want to forget in order to make your trip even more enjoyable. Don’t forget…

Hiking shoes. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park has over 800 miles of hiking trails available to explore. There are trails ranging from easy to difficult, depending on your skill level, and streams, wildflowers and trees make each one beautiful and unique. A comfortable pair of hiking shoes will help you begin to conquer all those awesome trails.

Your Camera. Waterfalls, rolling hills, birds, bears and deer are just a few of the things you will see when you visit the Smokies. In fall and spring, vivid colors blanket the area in the form of changing leaves and wildflowers. In winter, snow and ice turn the city into a wonderland. No matter the time of year, Pigeon Forge provides incredibly wonderful sights. Be sure to bring along your camera so you don’t miss a thing.

Binoculars. A lot of really great views await atop the ridges of the Smokies and at the end of many trails. Particularly along the Cades Cove Loop, you will often see wildlife. While you can view some up close, binoculars will come in handy for spotting deer and bears out in fields or along the mountainsides.

Play clothes. While you may want to dress up for a nice dinner or show at night, you’ll want to be ready to play during the day. If you’re planning to raft, be sure to bring your swimsuit and some water shoes or sneakers you don’t mind getting wet. For hiking, biking or climbing, bring comfortable shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. There is plenty to do all year round here, so dress for the weather.

A Sense of Adventure. Pigeon Forge is a great place to try new things. Horseback riding, giant swings, kayaking, golf, and zip lining are all at your disposal. Travel with an open mind and you’ll be sure to create some lasting memories.
