Parks and Rec Serves Up One of My Favorite Holidays: Treat Yo Self Day

“Clothes? Treat yo self. Fragrances? Treat yo self. Massages, mimosas, and fine leather goods? Treat. Yo. Self.” – Tom Haverford & Donna Meagle

Four years since the series ended and one of the most infamous holidays from pop culture, rivaling Star Wars Day on May the Fourth (be with you) and The Perfect Date Day (April 25) from Miss Congeniality, is Parks and Rec’s lasting legacy: Treat Yo’ Self Day on October 13. Want something ridiculous, unnecessary, or just straight up extravagant? Save it for Treat Yo’ Self Day! But seriously, take this fun pop culture holiday and run with it! Make it a day you and your friends set aside for not just treating yourselves, but one another.

Encourage and enjoy some quality time together, like Donna does for Tom during their over-the-top lunch in the final season’s Treat Yo’ Self Day. “When it comes to matters of the heart, treat yo’ self.” The holiday is all about you doing what you want for you, and sometimes that is simply some time away with friends. Listen to your heart and treat yo’ self to relaxation, extravagant surroundings, prime shopping, and tons of fun in a luxury cabin in the mountains of the Smokies and Pigeon Forge!

Luxury in the Mountains

Treat yo’ self to relaxing by your own private pool, watching movies in the cabin theater room, and soaking in breathtaking mountain views from the steamy waters of the outdoor hot tub. A luxury cabin in the Smoky Mountains is the perfect getaway destination this Treat Yo’ Self Day! Paying for luxury doesn’t have to break the bank, either, when you recruit a group of friends or other couples to join in the treatment of yourselves.

Splitting the cost of your luxury cabin frees up your budget to partake in many other Treat Yo’ Self Day activities during your stay. Your luxury cabin may only house a couple bedrooms, but provides space to accommodate numerous guests! For example: a 2-bedroom cabin can provide accommodations for up to 10-16 guests! Luxury cabins stay in high demand; pick out your Treat Yo’ Self cabin and recruit your friends to treat themselves with you.

(Treat yo’ pet, too, in a pet-friendly cabin!)

Clothes and Fine Leather Goods

There is quality shopping for everyone in the Pigeon Forge and Smoky Mountain area. Your idea of luxury could be a new Michael Kors handbag from the Tanger Outlets in Sevierville or a high-quality hiking backpack from the Nantahala Outdoor Company in Gatlinburg. Turquoise jewelry, cowboy boots, handmade leather wallets, hunting gear, boho fashion, home décor, athletic wear; you name it, you can treat yo’ self to it in the Smokies! Check out these fantastic shop stops:

  • Tanger Outlets
  • The Old Mill District
  • The Island in Pigeon Forge
  • The Village in Gatlinburg
  • The Great Smoky Arts and Crafts Community

Fragrances

Smell the fragrances of fresh mountain breezes carried through the trees, sweet aromas of bubble baths in the cabin’s large jetted tub, and intoxicating gardens filled with exotic birds at Parrot Mountain. Treat yo’ self to all kinds of lovely fragrances during your stay in Pigeon Forge. Check out Blossom in The Island, where organically cultivated essential oils and body products have labels with fewer words and no chemicals, perfect for an in-cabin Treat Yo’ Self spa day! The Tanger Outlets are home to a plethora of smell-good shopping: Bath and Body Works, Perfumania, Fragrance Outlet, and Yankee Candle to supply your spa day, night out, or post-hike unwinding sesh.

Massages

When you stay in a Pigeon Forge cabin, you’re supplied with the perfect end to a morning hike in the Smoky Mountains. Let the jets of a large indoor bath tub or steamy outdoor hot tub gently ease any soreness. A soothing massage will reward your muscles after rewarding your soul with stunning views and natural settings. Or, in the spirit of Treat Yo’ Self, have a masseur come to your cabin! Just ask when you book about getting a massage while you rest on their professional tables on the back deck or by the fireplace in your cabin. Step up the extravagance and visit St. Somewhere Spa where you can indulge in a Volcano Hot Stone Massage, Lost Shaker of Salt Glow, and a Tranquil Facial before a wine night by the fire in your cabin.

Mimosas (Wine, Margaritas, and Moonshine)

Wine tours, moonshine tastings, and fireside margaritas: indulge your taste buds for an evening of treating yo’ selves out on the town in your new outfits! Treat yo’ selves to your favorite drinks as many of the local Pigeon Forge wineries and distilleries will treat you to tastings and free tours! Kick back with some live music and margaritas by the outdoor fire pit on Margaritaville’s rooftop patio with magical views of the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel. Make it a fantastic evening in the cabin with your favorite champagne from a tour along the Rocky Top Wine Trail and add it to your orange juice for mimosas and mountain views.

Treat Yo’ Self Day is October 13, but let’s face it, as much as we love Donna and Tom for sharing this incredible day with the world, we could make Treat Yo’ Self Day any day of the year. Gather your friends and make plans for treating yourself to some relaxing atmospheres, good laughs, quality time, and some extravagant shopping in the beautiful city of Pigeon Forge and the Smoky Mountains.
