The Sweet Shoppe History
After discovering that they shared a passion for being in the kitchen, Nikki and Susan founded their original bakery, The Sweet Shoppe of Blue Ridge, on May 11, 2011. With Nikki’s childhood experience making chocolate candies with all the women of the family and Susan baking homemade cakes alongside her mother, the ladies decided to bring the chocolate world and baking world together. Now they wow everyone with their scrumptious recipes.
The two friends were invited to serve the state capital and the governor of Georgia their gourmet cupcakes shortly after opening their first bakery. Excited to take their business to the next level, Nikki and Susan traveled to LA for their first episode of Cupcake Wars on Food Network within five months of opening their Blue Ridge store. They placed 2nd among other companies from across the US.
Although they did not win their first battle on Cupcake Wars, Food Network wanted the girls to return to LA to compete on a new redemption episode of the show. Nikki and Susan didn’t hesitate to accept the challenge! They went back, competed, and won their second appearance on Cupcake Wars, giving them the title of Cupcake Wars Champions!
Nikki and Susan were awarded $10,000 and given the opportunity to serve their winning cupcakes at the Hollywood VIP screening of Adam Sandler’s movie, Hotel Transylvania. The ladies now operate three Sweet Shoppes including the new Food Network Shoppe of the South in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The other two stores are the prize location in Blue Ridge, Georgia, and a smaller store in McCaysville, Georgia, that opened in 2013.
