Gifting in Style

This is a concept I have only recently come upon: stylish gifting. It may sound a little silly, but I have been a bit embarrassed at weddings, birthdays, and Christmas gatherings with some of my newspaper giftwrap I took from my mom in the 90s and paper gift bags from Walmart… There is this magical village that sells the most beautiful Christmas ornaments, décor, lights, and gift supplies: The Incredible Christmas Place. As the South’s largest Christmas shopping village, it’s an experience that fits right into the theme of season! Skip those cheap grocery store bags and papers and give a meaningful present that shows just as much effort on the outside as the inside.

Gifting Games

Everyone knows the age-old gifting games: White Elephant and Secret Santa. My family came up with this game, though, that puts a little twist on these games. We were kids, we made no money, obviously, but my dad thought it was important for us to feel a part of the gift giving during Christmas.

So, among the siblings and cousins, we would all draw a name from a hat, Secret Santa style, separated boys and girls so we would only buy gifts for the opposite gender. Our parents gave us $10-$15 to find the perfect gift at the local mall (like the Tanger Outlets in Sevierville) and chaperoned us in two separate groups. Before setting us loose among the retail stores, however, we would have a group chat about who we had and ideas for a meaningful gift for that person. It was always super fun, somewhat thrilling (kids with money, trying to keep secrets from the opposite group), and taught us so much about meaningful gifting. This is a fantastic game for those hosting a family Christmas gathering or a church retreat in one of Pigeon Forge Tennessee Cabin’s gorgeous large group lodges.

Whatever may bring you to the Smokies this season of giving, you are the best place to find a gift to show someone just how much you think about and appreciate them, for exactly who they are, this Christmas season.
