Mainstay Attractions
The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel—This impressive 200-foot wheel will be the first thing you’ll notice when you pull up to The Island. Called the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel, this towering structure sits at the foot of the most visited National Park in the U.S.—the Great Smoky Mountains National Park! You’ll get a view of this park like no other when you sit atop this giant wheel, which opened in 2013. It stands today as one of the tallest attractions in the entire Southeast, and its comfortable all-glass gondolas can seat up to eight guests.
The Island Show Fountain—Day or night, you can watch the stunning water and lights show at The Island. Their state-of-the-art, multi-tiered water fountain show plays approximately every 30 minutes Monday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. The water dance is choreographed to 14 pieces of music, and the show is created by an impressive amount of vertical nozzles—89 to be exact! These create a graceful water display alongside a geyser that shoots water 60 feet into the air!
The Island Ropes Course—Come check out the recently opened Ropes Course in The Island for fun high above The Island! This ropes course has two different options for you to choose from. For those less than 48 inches tall, you have the Sky Tykes course, which has nine different elements and room for parents to walk on the ground beside their child to help them along the way. For adults and older children, there is the Sky Trail Explorer course. This course has 30 different elements, two zip lines, and one simulated free fall. And what’s even better—there’s no time limit for how long you can stay and play in these exciting exhibits!
