The Difference Between Gatlinburg and Pigeon forge

Have you never been to a Pigeon Forge, TN cabin? Wondering what all the hype is about? Every year millions of people flock to the Pigeon Forge area for family vacations, weddings, honeymoons, and weekend getaways but if you haven’t been to Pigeon Forge before you may be wondering a few things. One question that a lot of Pigeon Forge newbies ask is what the difference is between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.

Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are different and similar at the same time. One of the major differences between the two cities is the feel. Gatlinburg is nestled right in the middle of the mountains and has a kind of small town feel. You can walk the downtown area. Pigeon Forge has views of the Smokies, but it isn’t right at the base of mountains. The downtown area is more spread out and the city can’t really be walked through in a day. In fact, you’ll probably have to drive your car when exploring this area.

Both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg have lots of great shows and attractions that line the cities’ downtown areas. Each city has great food available to visitors. Each city has horseback riding, atv offroading, put-put golfing, great mountain views, and ziplining. The places to stay in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are very similar as well. There are cabins in Pigeon Forge as well as Gatlinburg and each city also has hotels, bed and breakfasts, and chalets.

The shopping in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg is slightly different. You can buy almost anything in both cities. However, the more mainstream shopping stores and outlet malls are located in Pigeon Forge. Shopping in Gatlinburg gives visitors more of a taste of the local community and artists. The arts and crafts community in Gatlinburg can be seen almost anywhere you go through the unique items you can buy throughout the downtown strip.
